One of our own creations! The Ice Cream Bar (ICB) is considered a designer cross. The ICB is a cross between an Isbar and a Cream Legbar. We need to look at the Isbar and Cream Legbar in order to better understand the ICB.

The Isbar, pronounced “Ice Bar,” is also known as the Blue Isbar or Swedish Isbar and originated in Sweden. The generally accepted history of the Blue Isbar is that a monk crossed a Rhode Island Red, New Hampshire Red, and a Cream Legbar. This cross produces hens that lay about 200+ green eggs a year.

The Cream Legbar, also referred to as the Crested Cream Legbar, originated in England. This chicken is a cross between a Barred Plymouth Rock and Brown Leghorn. Reportedly, there are Araucana and Gold Campine genes in the mix, as well. The Cream Legbars lay about 200 tiffany blue eggs a year.

The ICB descends from two lines who are known for being great foragers, prolific layers, and docile pets. The resulting egg is supposed to be a bright blue-green.

We get a 80-90% hatch rate here on the farm. WE CANNOT GUARANTEE you will have the same hatch rate

Shipping can have an affected on hatch rate. We have had 100% hatch rate and 0% and everywhere in between on shipped eggs

We always breed true to the breed and breed for quality. But eggs colors may vary a bit then what is pictured.
